Ambient Monitoring

Our expertise in ambient air quality monitoring includes short term campaign monitoring over a single day, through to long term and permanent sampling. We have experience in sampling a broad range of target compounds in air including:

We own a range of ambient sampling instrumentation for odour, particulate and gaseous monitoring, and our Capalaba premises have a purpose built equipment preparation and sample recovery laboratory. Samples are lodged with a range of specialist laboratories for post-sampling analysis, with the majority of analyses completed in accordance with NATA accredited methodologies.

Ambient sampling is completed for a variety of reasons including:

  • establishing existing baseline conditions to allow trends over time to be determined;
  • to assess overall air quality compliance due to specific activities or events;
  • provide data to assist in identification the source of air emissions.

Examples of Previous Projects:

  • Supply, installation and operation of permanent ambient air quality monitoring stations for the Airport Link - Northern Busway (APLNB) project in Brisbane.
  • Installation and operation of a continuous ambient air quality station at the Port of Townsville for three months. Sampling of particulates, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides and hydrocarbons was completed.
  • Continuous monitoring of nitrogen dioxide and carbon monoxide concentrations at four locations at a major industrial facility for a period of 18 months.
  • Campaign sampling of particulates, fibres and metals in the vicinity of a major industrial facility over an 18 month period.
  • Ambient particulate sampling during construction of the runway extension at Gold Coast Airport (over a nine month period).
  • Ambient nitrogen dioxide, hydrocarbon and particulate monitoring at Canberra Airport over a period of three months to determine compliance with the relevant air quality goals.
  • Particulate deposition monitoring at a mine
