Concert Noise Modelling and Control

Concert Noise Modelling and Control - Image 1 Concert Noise Modelling and Control - Image 2

Noise from entertainment events and concerts, whether internal or external venues, may require noise modelling prior to the event to assist in specification of the position, orientation and angle of loudspeakers. Attended noise monitoring during an event is a common requirement of event licences, and this provides a means of actively managing noise emissions during the concert or event.

ANE has extensive experience in concert noise modelling and control, including experience at major events both in Australia and overseas. Our approach includes sound modelling and/or propagation testing to allow the influence of meteorology and local features such as buildings and structures to be determined, and active noise management during events. We have a long history of working with sound engineers and the production team of major events, as well as liaison with the community and regulatory agencies.

Project experience includes:

  • Noise management and complaints response for the Foo Fighters concert at the Metricon Stadium, gold coast - 2011
  • Numerous major concerts and events at the Australian Football Stadium and Sydney Cricket Ground since 2009, including Eminem, Foo fighters, George Michael, Edinburgh Military Tattoo as welll as cricket, football and rugby matches.
  • A Day on the Green at Bimbagen Estate, Hunter Valley. Noise Management and monitoring - since 2009.
  • A Day on the Green at Sirromet Winery, Redlands City. Attended and unattended monitoring to assess compliance with event licence conditions - since 2008.
  • V Festival on the Gold Coast - Noise control and complaints handling (2007, 2008, 2009).
  • Chugg Entertainment: Noise assessment and modelling for concert venue at Sydney Park.
